Gracious Living

Branchlands is a friendly and safe independent-living rental community for people age 55 and over.

The apartments are located in the three-story, 26-apartment Sargent House, built in 1997, and the four-story, 43-apartment Holtrust House, built in 1988 and expanded in 1999. Both apartment buildings are handicapped-accessible and offer electronically controlled entry, elevator service, and enclosed connections to the Manor House.

Comfort and security are paramount, and our staff is dedicated to the well-being of each resident. For extra assurance, we provide each individual with a personal Emergency Call System, and, should a medical emergency arise, Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital and the world-renowned University of Virginia Medical Center ensure ready access to first-rate care.

Branchlands’ owners and management team are dedicated to providing respectful, high-quality services in an environment that fosters independence and enhances quality of life.

Manor House Staff “Shout-outs”

“I must give some shout outs to staff.

Justin is the best! Whenever I have a maintenance request, he keeps me informed along the way and tackles the project as quickly as possible. This level of caring is greatly appreciated.

All kitchen staff are caring people, but Kathy takes me personally. As if she is a caring relative. I fix my own breakfast and make myself a large very healthy lunch. So, at dinner I only eat a few vegetables and soup, and I don’t eat dessert. Kathy tries endlessly to tempt me to eat more. She seems really concerned that I am going to starve. [My Branchlands friends] and me, we laugh and joke with kitchen staff: they care about us and we care about them.

[Karsyn is a] sweet young woman. I could never have been as empathetic and caring of old people as she is. But I hear people complaining to her about things that are usually the resident’s lack of knowledge, not Branchland’s fault. But she patiently listens and tries to help. She is a real gem.”
