Celebrations through the Seasons
This year, we’ve had so much to celebrate! From holidays to birthdays, and every occasion in between, our staff works hard to put on festive events for our residents to enjoy. At Branchlands Senior Living, we help residents live life to the fullest by offering opportunities to gather with family, food, and fun.
Winter
When it’s cold outside, we keep it crafty. What better way to beat the frosty chill than by warming up with a glass of wine? Residents joined together to paint their own masterpieces at a Paint and Sip event. It’s just another fun activity in the day in the life of an Assisted Living resident.
We also celebrated the season with our snowy décor and Winter Wonderland party and had a lovely time at our Valentine’s Day festivities. Who doesn’t love an excuse to give flowers to someone special?
Spring
This spring, we honored tributes and traditions. May wouldn’t have been complete without our annual Run for the Roses picnic. Residents enjoyed a day of festive outfits, mint juleps, and friendly wages as they celebrated the Kentucky Derby. For Memorial Day, residents’ families joined them to honor U.S. military personnel who have perished.
Music is a big reason to celebrate every season. There’s nothing quite like sitting out on the Manor House’s porch on a beautiful spring day, listening to Fritz Horitz’s upbeat tunes during happy hour.
Summer
Over the summer, Branchlands’ residents stayed busy with plenty of outings, events, and activities. Manor House Independent Living resident Nancy Newman kept her fellow residents engaged with Lunch and Learn lectures. Residents also got creative by painting wine glasses and making summer-themed crafts. Summer also held our annual Father’s Day celebration, where we honored all of our resident dads with a musical performance by Matthew O’Donnell.
Fall
Alongside Halloween and the annual Fall Festival, Oktoberfest gave us even more to celebrate in the fall. Residents enjoyed one another’s company with fun pictures and some delicious German food.
Later in the fall, National Assisted Living Week allowed us to meet some amazing volunteers from UVA and a local Girl Scouts troop. Linden House residents spent time outside talking and playing games with UVA students. Meanwhile, the Girl Scouts offered their enthusiastic helping hands as they learned to bake cookies alongside residents.
Always Something to Celebrate
The holidays are special, but even the months without a holiday give us a reason to gather together. Our amazing staff puts on a birthday party lunch each month to honor residents’ birthdays.
At Branchlands, you can leave the day-to-day chores behind all year and enjoy the many activities and events, whether social, educational, or something in between. We look forward to an exciting 2024 for our entire Branchlands community, where we can celebrate the seasons all over again.
